Obituary

Freddie Jay Dudding, affectionately known as Jay, passed away on January 18, 2026, in Blue Ridge, Virginia. He was born on December 11, 1962, in Roanoke, Virginia.

Jay spent many years working as a truck driver, a career that reflected his independence and love of the open road. Outside of work, he found joy in kayaking, motorcycle riding, and bird watching, appreciating both adventure and the quiet beauty of nature. Jay was a member of Villamont Presbyterian Church, where he found fellowship and spiritual comfort.

He was preceded in death by his father, Franklin Delano Roosevelt Dudding; his mother, Mildred Fralin; and his stepfather, Golden Fralin.

Those left to cherish his memory include his brother, Jack Dudding (Donna); his sister, Jill Bird (Mike); his nephew, Corey Austin, and great-nephew, Gunner Bastrom; his niece, Cristen Austin, and great-nephew, Eli Doss; his niece, Alecia Carwile (Clyde), and great-nieces and great-nephew, Cassidey, Chevy, and Cody; his niece, Nikki Dudding (Ricky Weeks), and great-nephew, Camden Dudding; along with numerous friends and loved ones who will miss him dearly.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to be announced.
