FRANKLIN EUGENE LAPRAD ("Frank", "Frankie", "Shed")

passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023.  He was born on November 19, 1940, to the late Charles Edward LaPrad, Sr. and Tressa Argenbright LaPrad.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 56 years, Shirley Ann Griffin LaPrad.  Also, left to cherish his memory are three brothers and their families; Charles Edward "Eddie" LaPrad, Jr. (Doris), Michael S. "Mickey" LaPrad (Peggy), and Gary L.  LaPrad (Carol).  Two brothers-in-law; Kenneth Webster "Kenny" Griffin (Pam), and Frank Daniel "Danny" Griffin, Jr.  (Renee).

Although he never had children of his own, he was very much part of his many surviving nephews' and nieces' lives and their families.

He proudly served in the Army National Guard in the early 1960s and retired from Ingersoll-Rand with over thirty years of service.

Frank played men's fast-pitch softball and baseball for many years in the Roanoke area and developed many lasting friendships.  He also kept actively in touch with many of his schoolmates and neighbors in the Southeast Roanoke community and met with them regularly at Famous Anthony's in Vinton.

A special thanks goes to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, especially the Palliative Care Unit for their unwavering care in Frank's final days.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on August 19, 2023, at 10 a.m., and will be conducted by Pastor Anne Mitchell and Brett LaPrad at Evergreen Burial Park, 1307 Summit Ave., SW Roanoke, VA  24015.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
