Obituary

Frank Jonathan "John" Holifield-Maggio, age 68, of Moneta, Virginia peacefully passed away on Monday, December 13, 2021.

John was born on October 14, 1953, in Welch, West Virginia to the late Anna and Fred Holifield. He lived in Flint, Michigan for several years with his parents and siblings before moving to Virginia upon meeting his loving wife, Sherill, and his stepchildren. They all moved to Virginia and got married in Roanoke in 1990.

John was an army veteran from 1979 – 1983 where he served as a watercraft operator and a scout helicopter repairman. John enjoyed visiting flea markets and yard sales, always looking for a good deal in hopes of expanding his Bruce Lee collection. He also thoroughly enjoyed karate and watching old martial art films, especially Bruce Lee's. He was an avid fan of the Detroit Lions and of the University of Michigan football team.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Fred Holifield, and his brother, Daniel Holifield. Those left to cherish John's memory are his wife of 31 years, Sherill; his children, Frankie Holifield and David Milliron; his siblings, Rose Holifield-Donajkowski, Anthony Holifield, Allen Holifield, and Mary Holifield; his stepchildren, Sherry Dean, Kelley Preseau, Terri Dawson (Jim), Alan Dean (Laura) and Jim Potes; John also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews; all whom love and miss him dearly.
