Frank William
Best
Oct 8, 1959 — Jun 26, 2023
Roanoke
Frank William Best III, better known as Billy, passed to the next realm on June 26, 2023. Cajun to the bone, Billy was born in Eunice, Louisiana on October 8, 1959. His childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood were spent in Eunice where he lived life with gusto. As a teenager, he enjoyed working in his father's motorcycle shop before going to college and studying the art of Horology (watch making), graduating at 19. Billy was a member of the Horological Association of Virginia and enjoyed serving as the organization's president for several terms. He used his verbal talents to write a watchmaking column called Destination Excellence which was published in several professional journals. Billy's many interests included motorcycle riding, kayaking, rock concerts, and monster movies to name a few. Billy married the love of his life, Eva Loewy on June 20, 1992, and together they raised two sons, Swade and Rocky, in Roanoke, Virginia. He was a wonderful husband and father. Billy will be remembered by many and forgotten by none, including his wife, his two sons, his sister Donna Evans, his brother, John Best, his numerous and beloved nieces and nephews, and his brothers-in-law, Rob Evans and Norman Boone. Billy is not gone but transformed into the next stage of his existence and is kept living in the memories of all who hold him dear.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Billy's favorite non-profit organization, The Southern Poverty Law Center, or to Good Samaritan Hospice, which was wonderfully helpful to us during Billy's last days.
