Obituary

Elsie Belinda Cannaday passed away Sunday, October 02, 2022, with her husband and daughter by her side. Elsie was born on April 16, 1950, in Roanoke, Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her mother Reba Harrison, father Ralph Campbell, Stepfather Melvin "Buddy" Harrison, brothers; Paul "Richie" Campbell, Harold "Russell" Campbell, Theodore "Teddy" Campbell, and sister Lola Elizabeth Nichols.

Those left to cherish Elsie's memory are her loving and devoted husband of 44 years, Darrell F. Cannaday, her daughter Jodi Ashley; son-in-law Jason Ashley, her son Christopher Cannaday, and two very special grandchildren Jackson and Ava Ashley.

Elsie worked for Rowe Furniture, Plastics One, and Sears Catalog. She was also a former member of The Eastern Stars. Above all, her family was her most prized possession! Elsie was a natural caregiver, who throughout her life took in and cared selfishly for multiple family members. Her passion was being in the kitchen, cooking and baking for any and all occasions. She has won multiple awards over the years for her baking talent. She also loved to craft and was always trying her hand at something new.

A memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Living Water Christian Church in Salem, Va.

In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the National Kidney Foundation.
