Edward "Ed" Riley Kirkland , born on May 31, 1990, in Fredericksburg, VA, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 29, 2023, in Roanoke, VA at the age of 33. Ed's life was a testament to his determination, resilience, and unwavering spirit.

Born prematurely, Ed defied the odds and quickly revealed his two speeds of operation—Full Throttle and Asleep. He was known for his strong work ethic, never stopping until the job was completed. Ed had a passion for rap music, cherished his naps, and took delight in feeding his beloved squirrels. His friendly and approachable nature meant he never met a stranger, always ready with a smile for everyone he encountered. Ed had a heart that reached out to help those in need, and his infectious laughter kept everyone around him in high spirits.

While Ed was a big goofball who brought joy and laughter to those around him, he was also a devoted father, brother, and son. His love and care for his family knew no bounds. Ed was known as an "Ed of All Trades," employing his skills and hard work at Ace Moving and Storage and Allied Moving in Roanoke.

Ed leaves behind a host of cherished memories. He is survived by his beloved son, Levi Kirkland; his fiancée, Elissa Corbett; his mother, Deb Kirkland; his sisters, Katie Bush, Sunny Kavanagh (Brynna), and Renee Bush; his brother, Will Bush (Benay); a half-dozen niblings; and his faithful furry companion, Mazey. He was preceded in death by his sweet mommy, Carolyn Kirkland, and his supportive pop, Edward Kirkland. Ed's impact on the lives of those who knew him cannot be expressed in words—he will be deeply missed.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate Ed's life will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Harvest Ministries, a church Ed considered his home, located at 909 Blue Ridge Blvd. in Roanoke, VA. This will be a time to share memories, seek comfort, and find solace in each other's presence.
