Obituary

Eder Batista Nunes

June 26, 1979 January 2, 2022

Eder Batista Nunes passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2022, at the age of 42. He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Rose Escher Duarte Nunes, his 11-year-old daughter Daphne Escher Duarte Nunes, his sister and her family in California, his brother, and his parents in Brazil.

Eder loved the Lord and he loved to sing praises to Him. He was always willing to help anyone that had a need. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Reform Movement Church and in all the places where he lived, in Brazil, Sacramento, and Roanoke, he was always willing to use his musical talents as a singer and as a sound engineer. Even though his life here on earth was cut short, and we will miss his smiles and gentle ways, he left a beautiful legacy that will go on touching many lives.

Eder worked as a school bus driver, and lately also a CDL trainer for Durham School Services. He loved to drive the bus and he loved the kids. Eder loved his family very much, and even though his wife and daughter are heartbroken that he is not with them anymore, they know that he is just sleeping. They rest in the Blessed Hope of the resurrection, waiting for Jesus to raise him again on the resurrection morning. "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words." 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18.

At Eder's mother's request, services were held in California, and he was laid to rest in Plymouth, California. A Memorial Service will be held at the Seventh Day Adventist Reform Movement Church located at 5240 Hollins Rd., Roanoke, VA on Saturday, January 29, at 4:00 pm.
