SERVICES HAVE BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL FRIDAY, OCTOBER 15, 2021.
Durham Foster Lynch Sr., 85, of Roanoke, Virginia, peacefully passed away and went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 26, 2021. He was predeceased by his father and mother, Lewis and Rosa Bell Ellis Lynch; his sisters, Alma Clemons and Mildred Cundiff; and his son, Durham Foster Lynch Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mildred Elizabeth Lynch; children, Patti Daughtery (Larry), James Holliday (Amanda), Donald Holliday, and Lewis Lynch; his grandchildren, Michael Lee Sipes, Jennifer Rose Chassreau (Lonnie), Steven Caldwell, Joseph Holliday, JoAnne Lynch; great-grandchildren, Sarah-Beth, Jordan, Loki, Nicolas, Savannah, Addison Jade, Cassidy, and Lil Jo; his sister, Frances Brown; loving and devoted niece, Joyce Phillips; and special friends, Garland Perry, Buck Simmons, Loren Bruffey, Earl Ragland, and many, many more.
Durham was a loving husband and a Franklin County boy at heart. Everyone else came 1 st and he always came 2 nd . Durham would do anything for anybody and went out of his way to make sure everyone he loved never needed anything. He took care of his children and they absolutely meant the world to him. In addition, he adored his wonderful wife whom he loved dearly. He always enjoyed visiting Nags Head to go fishing with his son. He started his own business, D&F Lynch Roofing and Sheet Metal, which he has been running for the past 45 years. One of his favorite hobbies was in car sales at Riverside Auto Sales after his retirement. He was a United States Marine Veteran who faithfully served in the Korean war.
Services are to be held on Friday, October 1, 2021. Visitation will be held from 11:30 – 12, Services will begin at 12 p.m., all at Valley Funeral Home, and the graveside will follow at 2 p.m. at the Lynch Cemetery Union Hall. (Closest address is 11509 Old Franklin Turnpike Union Hall, VA 24176, will take you to a nursery adjacent to the cemetery.)
