Dennis ("Denny") L. Shearer, age 76, found peace on Sunday, March 31, 2024, after a valiant three-year battle with cancer. He was surrounded by loved ones as he left his earthly home.

Dennis was born on August 14, 1947, in York, PA to the late Mabel and Glenn Shearer. He was raised in York, PA, and attended Red Lion High School. He completed a year at Penn State, York before entering the field of Graphic Arts and Typesetting at Progressive Typographers. He spent the next 45 years working for Progressive, Waldman Graphics, and University Graphics, Inc. in management positions in both Customer Service and Billing & Estimating departments. Following retirement, he worked part-time as a driver for Advance Auto Parts and volunteered as a puppy sitter for Saint Francis Service Dogs. He was a lifelong member of the church and sang tenor in the church choir. Dennis was an avid sports fan and participant throughout his life. He pitched for baseball teams as a kid, coached and watched his kids' sporting events as a dad, and supported Philadelphia sports at all ages. Dennis was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and pet owner. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, fishing, nature, music, and games of strategy. He was a hard-working man, paid attention to detail, and had a soft heart.

Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Beth (Howe); his children, Aimee (Kevin Anderer) and Adam (Liz); granddaughters Josephine and Beatrice; his brothers David Shearer (Darlene) and Daniel Shearer (Sherri); sister-in-law Marjorie Howe; aunts, uncle, nieces, nephew, cousins, friends, and colleagues.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Church of the Brethren. (2138 McVitty Road, SW, Roanoke, VA 24018)
