David Courtney Sweeney, born on May 20, 1960, passed away on March 10, 2024.

David Courtney Sweeney lived a full and vibrant life, leaving a lasting mark on all who knew him. For three decades, he dedicated himself to the Roanoke Civic Center, where his infectious humor made him countless friendships he would always cherish. A talented musician, David's guitar melodies and soulful voice captivated his friends, who quickly became his audience. His quick wit and personality endeared him to all, and he never missed an opportunity to make others laugh. Alongside his love for music and laughter, David found joy in crossword puzzles and the open road, often seen riding his beloved motorcycle. But above all, David's heart belonged to his wife, Judy, whom he cherished for 27 years. His unwavering faith in the Lord guided him through life's journey, and he marched to the beat of his own drum, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unmatched charisma.

Preceded in death by his parents, Max Earl and Shirley Ann Sweeney.

David is survived by his beloved wife, Judy Spencer Sweeney, his brothers Randy and Darrell Sweeney (Sarah), and his sister-in-law, Robin Spencer. He leaves behind nephews: Cody, Aaron, Liam, and Max, and nieces: Rhiannon, Sarah, Mikayla, and Ada, as well as many cherished friends, including Becky Spence, Rita Donahue, Bonnie Blake, Mark Pillis, and our son, Seth Miller for all their love and support.

A Celebration of His Life will be held on March 22, 2024, at 3 p.m. at the Last Step Lounge (1919 E. Washington Ave, Vinton, VA). Join us as we honor David's memory and celebrate the joy he brought to all who knew him.
