David Eugene McDonald passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025, in Elliston, Virginia. He was born on June 29, 1947, in West Virginia.

David retired from Koppers in Salem, Virginia, after 43 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed gardening and was always willing to lend a helping hand to his neighbors. Above all, he was a devoted provider for his family, caring deeply for his wife and children throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harley McDonald; his mother, Genevieve Davis; his sisters, Patricia "Pat" Sirbaugh and Rebecca "Becky" Twigg; his brothers-in-law, Franklin "Frank" Twigg, Donald "Don" Gregory, and Carl "Pooch" Gloyd; and his in-laws, Charles and Ione Gloyd.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Jean McDonald; his daughters, Jennifer McDonald and Karen Dunbar (Casey); his sons, Randy Hancock (Cindy) and Scott Lambert; his grandchildren, Shane Hancock (Alley), Melody, JR, Jack, and Hannah Dunbar; and his great-grandchildren, Dalton, Hunter, Kaisley, and Colter.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Senneca Baptist Church, 8572 Roanoke Road, Elliston, Virginia 24087, with Stuart Wright officiating.
