David Lane Justis passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2026, in Vinton, Virginia. He was born on July 14, 1960, in Boston, Massachusetts.

David began working in the health care field at the age of 20 and dedicated his life to that work. He also coached many of Vinton's youth for over 15 years, making a lasting impact on those he guided and encouraged. David was a dedicated father and grandfather who loved spending his spare time watching his grandchildren play sports.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Tarbox and Marilyn Tarbox, and his brother, Michael Bachelder.

Those left to cherish his memory include his spouse, Rhonda Justis; his sons, Greg Justis (Sarah) and Travis Justis (Michael); his daughter, Candice Malone (Sid); his grandchildren, Kaidence, Aiden, Isaiah, Kaleb and Karlee; his siblings, Robin Smith (Terrell), Scott Justis, Peggy Ripley (John), Brian Justis Simpson (Angela) and Jeff Justis Simpson (Amy); and his mother-in-law, Dorothy Williams.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Blue Ridge Baptist Church, 2410 Hardy Road, Vinton, VA 24179, with Tommy Hurt, Jr. officiating.
