Darrell Edward McGuire, an unforgettable man and a true icon lost his battle with cancer on Friday, March 20, 2026, at the age of 64, in Roanoke, Virginia. Darrell was born on December 11, 1961, in Montgomery County, Virginia. He was the baby of five children.

Darrell was preceded in death by his mother, Glada Luckadoo; his father, Kyle McGuire; grandparents, Velma and Hubert Reed, and Lacy and Alice McGuire; his brother, Benton McGuire and his sister, Mildred Whitescarver.

A man of many talents, he approached life with curiosity, skill, and a generous spirit that touched countless lives. Darrell was a fashion icon, known for his impeccable sense of style and creativity. He once graced the modeling world with his charm and presence, a chapter of his life he remembered fondly. Darrell was a talented craftsman, known for his unique and beautiful creations. He also had a deep love for nature, nurturing his garden with care and passion. He found joy and a peace in tending to his garden, where every bloom reflected his care and patience. Amongst his many other talents he was a culinary genius, known for his innovative recipes and passion for cooking. A talent he loved to share with family and friends. Darrell was known love of music and his unwavering love for animals. Darrell was so full of life and had committed his life to God.

Darrell was a proud and dedicated advocate for the Pride community, championing inclusion and equality throughout his life. He became a key part in spaces of love, acceptance and safety in the community he called home at a very young age. His unwavering commitment to the Pride community reflected his deep belief in love, acceptance, and unity. Darrell was an active and beloved member of the Roanoke Pride community, where he shared his kindness, courage, and joy with all. He was deeply engaged with Southwest Virginia Pride, the Diversity Center, and The Drop-In, working tirelessly to create spaces of love, respect, and unity. He mentored countless individuals in the community and left many lasting memories to those that he loved dearly. He will be dearly missed.

Those left to cherish Darrell's legacy of love are his aunt, Barbara Farmer; his uncle, Denton Reed; his sisters, Ramona Richards and Joyce Bain; niece and nephews, Jennifer McGuire, Janice Epperley, Christy Bittinger, Jessica Riddle, Hollie Bain, Dustin Bain, Brandon Bain and Michael McGuire; and great nephew, Ziggy.

A Memorial Service/Celebration of Life will be held on April 11, 2026, from 12pm-4pm at Highland Park. Any and all friends are welcome to come celebrate his life.
