Salem
Curtis Harvey Howell, 79, of Salem, VA, transitioned from this world on August 26, 2023. His life was a testament to his unwavering love for both the thrill of racing and the warmth of family bonds.
A skilled mechanic, Curtis's hands brought life to machines and his heart enriched the lives he touched. As he journeys beyond, Curtis reunites with his parents, Watson and Reva Howell, whose spirits guide him onward.
Born in Floyd, VA, Curtis was a well-known figure in the racing world, making his mark in Franklin County. Known for his appearances in Franklin County races, he lived and breathed the world of racing and cars, an enthusiasm that never wavered. A devoted family man, Curtis found his greatest joy in the company of his loved ones, cherishing every moment spent together. His readiness to offer a helping hand to those in need echoed his kind and generous nature.
Left to carry forward his memory are his devoted wife of 47 years, Teresa, along with his two daughters, Annette and Connie. His two sisters, his three grandchildren—Dwayne, Richie, and Kayleigh—and seven great-grandchildren continue to hold his spirit close. Also including numerous nieces and nephews.
