Charles Henry Tinsley, affectionately known as Charlie, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026, in Roanoke, Virginia. He was born on July 26, 1943, in Roanoke, where he spent much of his life serving his community and family.

Charlie proudly worked for the Roanoke City Fire Department for 39 years, dedicating his career to protecting and helping others. Following his service, he also worked as a boat mechanic at Smith Mountain Lake, a role that reflected his mechanical skill and love for hands-on work.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mahalia Ann Agee; his father, Brodie Oscar Tinsley; his beloved wife, Faye Esther Tinsley; his sister, Ruth Adams; and his brother, Donald Tinsley.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Laurie Ann Carlisle (Todd) and Melissa Dawn Tinsley; his son, Michael Ryan Tinsley; his sister, Patricia Steele; his grandchildren, Todd Andrew Carlisle (Meredyth) and Summer Carlisle; and his great-grandchildren, Carson, Riley, Wesley, Lucas, and Reece.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Charlie will be remembered for his dedication to public service, his strong work ethic, and his love for his family.
