Charles N. Schwallenberg, Jr., of Cloverdale, VA. passed away peacefully at his home on November 4, 2024. He was born and raised in Roanoke, Va. He is preceded in death by his father Charles N. Schwallenberg Sr., his mother Anne R. Schwallenberg, and his sister Catherine S. Corleto.  He is survived by his two sons Scot Schwallenberg and Chris Schwallenberg (Tammy), grandchildren Dylan Schwallenberg, and Jonathan and Sydney Schwallenberg. Charlie had many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews, all of whom loved their Uncle Charlie!

Charlie, as he was lovingly known by all, graduated from  Roanoke Catholic High School. He enlisted in the Navy in 1955 where he proudly served his country for 8 years. He had a long and diverse career in the sales industry. Charlie lived and worked in Roanoke, VA., Norfolk VA, Ormond Beach, FL., Valdosta, GA, eventually returning to the Roanoke area, living in Cloverdale.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 562, of St Andrews Catholic Church. He was an active member of the AA community serving in various educational and mentorship capacities throughout the years. He received his 47 years of sobriety chip, a milestone that reflected his commitment to his sobriety.  A commitment that helped so many others, by his example, throughout the years.

Charlie loved his family. His children and grandchildren meant everything to him. He extended that loving sense of family to all members of his family as well as friends too numerous to count. Charlie loved the beauty that was Roanoke. He loved to take long drives and enjoy the natural landscape and beauty of places like the Peaks of Otter. He also loved the challenge of doing crossword puzzles.

Charlie's family would like to thank the VA system and its healthcare providers for all of the wonderful care they provided. They would also like to thank the staff of Good Samaritan Hospice, Nadia, Kathy, and Chaplain Lisa, for the wonderful care and support they offered throughout this journey.
