Brenda Leigh Childress, 72, of Salem, beloved sister, aunt, wife, mother, and MawMaw, gained her wings on May 24, 2025. She is flying free now, no longer limited by the pain in her knees and back.

Brenda was born in Roanoke on June 23, 1952. She worked for the Home Shopping Network for 15 years and later retired from Advance Auto Parts in 2013.

Brenda loved taking trips to the mountains in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and enjoyed watching ball games, especially baseball. She was a lifelong Atlanta Braves fan but had recently started cheering for the Dodgers, all because of her admiration for Freddie Freeman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lelia Robins; her first husband, Charles Pruitt; her nephew, Aaron Robins; and her great-nephew, Michael Robins.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 40 years, Dale Childress; her beloved beagle-weiner dog, Gypsy; her son, Kevin Pruitt, his fiancée Hope, and their son Charlie; her daughter, Tanya Bandy and her husband Clayton; and her step-children, Lisa Trevillian and Wallace Dale Childress and their families.

She is also survived by her sister, Elaine McNew; three brothers, Donnie Robins (Judy), Buddy Robins (Ethel), and Reggie Robins (Paula); her nephew, Jeff Robins (Brandy); her nieces, Kim France (Jonathan) and Allison Ayers (Keith); and great-nieces and great-nephew, Morgan McManus, Lauren, and (little) Jonathan France.

A visitation will be held on Monday, June 2, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Valley Funeral Home (1609 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA).
