Bobbye Frances Young passed away, peacefully at her home on September 22, 2024, at 85. She was beloved by many and will be greatly missed.

Bobbye spent much of her childhood and early adulthood in Virginia Beach. She married Arlan Young in 1963 and together they raised their family in various places until Arlan retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service. They eventually settled in North Carolina until Arlan's unexpected passing in 1994. Bobbye moved to Maine in 1999 with her daughter and grandchildren but continued to be a frequent visitor to Virginia, where both her father's and mother's families hailed from. Bobbye returned to Virginia in 2011, settling in Roanoke, where she resided until her passing.

Bobbye was known for her fondness of flowers and digging in the dirt and regardless of where she called home, she always lovingly maintained beautiful flowerbeds. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren often joked that one only had to bring their poor, neglected plant to "Memaw" and she would love it back to health. She also enjoyed family gatherings, good music, and top-quality vanilla ice cream.

Bobbye was preceded in death by her husband, Arlan L. Young, and her son, Norman. She is survived by her daughters Cathy Wogomon and Bobbye Ann Gould, her son Tracy A. Young, her sister Patricia Rathbun, several nieces, multiple grandchildren, a handful of great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
