On Thursday, October 7, 2021, Mrs. Betty Lou Smith went home to be with the Lord.
She was predeceased by her parents, Frank Lloyd and Annie Margaret Sparks Smith; nephew, David Matthew Smith; brother-in-law, Butch Thomas; and sisters-in-law, Vickie Smith, and Becky Smith.
She is survived by her loving siblings, Lois Thomas, Robert "Bob" Smith (Sherry), Romia Smith, Clair Spradlin (Warren), J. Ralph Smith, Willis Smith, Elmer Smith, Cora Smith, and Tammie Smith. She also had numerous loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, cousins, friends, and her beloved co-worker at Roanoke City Library.
Betty dutifully worked at the Roanoke City Library for 50 years and loved to read. She also loved helping people and always went out of her way to help anyone she could. She was a member of the Church of God (AKA the Water of Life) for over 50 years and passionately praised the Lord. She loved children and helped take care of many, watching them all grow to become adults. She loved her family with all her heart and will be dearly missed.
