Beatrice P. Johnson
January 2, 1923 - August 24, 2021

Beatrice Price Johnson, of Raleigh, North Carolina received the clarion Call on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, where she peacefully died at home surrounded by her family members; she was 98.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary L. Johnson; brothers, Andrew M. Johnson, Alexander Johnson, and Joseph L. Johnson; sisters, Elizabeth Manning, Occie J. Garner, and Norma J. Howard.

Those left to cherish her wonderful memories are her sisters, Kathleen Mitchell, Nora J. Taylor (Floyd), Portia J. Statum (Hayward), and Margaret Harris, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, grand and great grand nieces, and nephews. Sarah Johnson, the only living sister-in-law; widow of Andrew M. Johnson, holds a special place in the hearts of the Johnson siblings.

Beatrice was baptized at an early age in Jackson, North Carolina. Later in life, she relocated to Raleigh, NC, where she joined Elevation Baptist Church where the love of the Lord captured her soul and she became a life-long member.
One of Beatrice's favorite memories was the Red Hat club. She enjoyed her membership with them and attending the meetings.
Beatrice was known for her outstanding cooking, especially her cakes and pies. She hustled, taking these special desserts to the market where she would sell them. She was a businesswoman; smart and determined not to let anyone get one over on her. Her talents did not stop with the cooking, but she was very crafty with her hands. She could tinker with anything that was broken and in no time, it would be working again.

Beatrice was known to take many special trips all over the country enjoying the scenery. When she was not traveling, she would be working on and designing items to sell. On Sunday mornings, later in life, when she was not able to attend church, her favorite preacher to listen to was Reverend Charles Stanley, a televangelist. One of her favorite songs, later in life was "One Day at a Time" and she enjoyed that song because it reminded her to take each day as it is. Life would not be interesting if Beatrice was not acting up in her own way; in her prime, she was known to pull a prank or two on you.

A special thanks to her doctor, located in Greensboro, Doctor Robert A. Reade, for taking care of her for the last 29 years. A special bond was established with his office, especially the nurses and staff, they made her feel at home and at peace.

FRIENDSHIP HAS NO BOUNDARIES. A special thank you goes to one of Doctor Reade's employees, Angela Shelton (Angel), she traveled especially from Greensboro to Roanoke one Saturday to be with Beatrice before she expired. She would always give Beatrice candy on doctor visits and help her whenever she needed it. Beatrice was legally blind, so when Angela would come up, Beatrice would say "You got something for me?" and Angela would say "Put your hand in the bag." And Beatrice would take out whatever she wanted and stuff her pockets full. She was a special friend to Beatrice and is greatly appreciated by the family.

The family would like to express many thanks to Good Samaritan Hospice for the love and compassion the staff gave Beatrice during her illness.
A special thank you to the following at Good Samaritan Hospice; Lacy, Paula, Morgan, Krista, Traci, Sidney, and Sherrie. If I missed anyone, charge it to the head and not the heart. The love, care, and support given to Beatrice during these tough times will always be remembered fondly forever by the family.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at 12 (NOON) at United Institutional Baptist Church (802 E. Market St. Greensboro, North Carolina), with Reverend Johnny Freeman officiating. The viewing will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park (3600 N Ohenry Blvd. Greensboro, North Carolina 27405) at 3 pm.
