Barbara Peery Meador, affectionately known as "Babs," passed away peacefully on May 30th, 2023, at her residence. She was born on September 18th, 1946 in Roanoke, Virginia, to the late John Peery and Margaret Dudley Peery. She was united in marriage to Edward Arthur Meador, who survives.

Babs was a loving stay-at-home mom to her three boys. She worked as a preschool teacher for several years. Everyone's children would flock to her; she was known as the "Community Grandma," and the children loved and adored her. Babs was a  faithful and dedicated member of the Central Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher. She loved her church family. She loved going to the beach where she'd enjoy going to the pool and sunbathing. She also enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley, bowling, taking walks, collecting anything with flamingos on it, and going on bus trips. Babs also had a special love for her fur babies, miniature Dachshunds and Beagles.

Those left to cherish precious memories are her loving and devoted husband, Edward Arthur Meador; sister, Sue Wiseman; brother, Jay Peery; three sons, Michael  Arthur Meador, Stephen Arthur Meador, and Jeffrey William Meador; five grandchildren, Amanda, Sierra, Machalah, Dalton and Erica; four great-grandchildren, Maddox, Parker, Harlee and Ansleigh; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on June 10th, 2023 at 2 p.m. at the Central Baptist Church 5656 Starkey Rd., Roanoke, Virginia 24018, with Pastor Willis Greenstreet, presiding. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.
