Andrew Lawrence Knapp, 62, of Roanoke, passed away August 29 ^th , 2021 peacefully at home, surrounded by family and friends.  Andrew graduated from the Roanoke County Occupational School in 1977 and was employed over the ensuing years in the foodservice and general services industry. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Nazareth Catholic Church.

Andrew had a passion for, and a love of the radio and television industry, and following local and regional personalities, and enjoyed attending and supporting their promotions. Andrew loved people, good food, and social activities such as concerts, festivals, and in particular, downtown Roanoke life, where he became a regular for local businesses.

Andrew had an amazing recall memory and could recite his catalog of knowledge for events, news, and people, going back many decades. Andrew exhibited extraordinary and unconditional compassion for people, an appreciation understood through his own challenges.

You have passed to the afterlife, to be with God, and join all those that have preceded you in death. Gone now is the pain, the fear, and your unique struggles in life.

Andrew is preceded in death by his parents, James Alphonse, and Ann Fleming Knapp, and brother, James Gregory Knapp. He is survived by brothers, Paul C. Knapp (Leslie), Gregory H. Knapp (Cathy), sister, Karen A. Knapp, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services provided by Valley Funeral Home. Andrew will be laid to rest with his mother with a memorial service and inurnment at the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 23, 2021.
