Obituary

Alma Ann Twine, of Salem, Virginia, peacefully departed this life on October 13, 2026. She was born on April 13, 1934, in Roanoke, Virginia, and was the beloved only child of the late Hester Lucille Gibson and John Thomas Wade, Sr.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Bratton Twine, Sr.

Alma dedicated more than twenty years to Woolworth’s on Campbell Avenue in downtown Roanoke, where she was known for her kindness and steady presence. She later served as the Financial Officer for BT Paving, a business founded by her and her late husband, faithfully supporting its operations until their retirement.

A devoted member of Central Baptist Church, Alma served as choir director for many years, sharing her love of music and worship with her church family. She also taught piano lessons earlier in her life. Alma enjoyed reading, traveling, and spending time with those she loved.

Those left to cherish her life and legacy are her son, Bobby Bratton Twine, Jr.; daughter, Dr. Sharon Twine-Lewis (James); 2 grandchildren, Charles Micyle Gentry (Mary), and Naudia Nicole Alexander (Rashed); six great-grandchildren, DeAndre, Lerone, Mikayla, Lennox, Micah, all of Roanoke, Virginia; and one aunt, Sally Ann Jamison of Rocky Mount, Virginia.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at 11am at Central Baptist Church 1502 Staunton Ave. NW Roanoke, Virginia, with Dr. Thomas Harper as eulogist. Visitation will be one hour prior, from 10am-11am. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in the Belvedere Gardens Crypt.
