Deacon Alfred Lynward Twine (Grandad Alfred) 86, of Roanoke went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 15, 2021. He was born in Salem, VA on March 4, 1935, to the late Charles and Madge Twine.

Alfred retired from Four Square Church Daycare after many years of service as a bus driver and attending to the maintenance needs of the church. In 1997, he joined the Macedonia Baptist Church on Cove Road in Roanoke, VA. Alfred loved his church and church family. He served as Chairman of the Trustees, Church Treasurer, and President of the Food Ministry.

He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, Bernard Arrington and Norman Hackley. His favorite hobbies were riding Harley Davidson motorcycle, watching the Washington (Redskins) football games, and having his great-grandson Elijah along with Gabe driving him around town.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Hughesy Twine, McLee Twine, and Bobby Twine Sr., sister, Callie Simmons, son, Anthony Lynn Jackson, and son-in-law, James Sykes. He is survived by Virginia Twine of Salem, his children, Rev. Tyrone Carter Sr. (Darlene), Lynward Twine Sr. (Theresa) of Salem, VA, Sandra Sykes of Greensboro, NC, Alfred Twine (Barbara), Larry Twine (Cheryl) and Angelique Morris all of Roanoke, VA, sister-in-law, Alma Twine of Salem, VA, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.
